Description
This painting was inspired by the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus is represented by the inverted triangle. The triangle is traditionally used to represent God the Father so I invert it to represent Jesus to show that Jesus is both divine and human. The rounded globes here represent two things the good and bad thief and humanity- the followers of Christ. The one to the left side of the painting on Jesus - right hand represents the good thief and the one on his left hand side represents the bad thief. I also use a tree to represent the cross as many times the Romans used trees to be the center part of the cross. You will also see four figures at the base of the crosses representing the three Marys, Mary mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the wife of Cleopas. Mary the mother of Jesus is found in the center with another figure John the beloved. I also depicted two hands appear in the sky and a lightning bolt in the shape of a triangle. These represent God the Father at the crucifixion. If you step away from the painting you will see a skull appear to represent what Golgatha means - Place of the Skull.
